EACH SHIRT SOLD WILL HELP RESTORE ~7FT OF OYSTER REEF
100% of the profits from our oyster shirts will go directly to Ayers Point Oyster Reef Restoration Project.
The Texas Coast Is
Losing Ground
On average, the Texas Gulf Coast loses ~4 feet of shoreline every year. Storms and harvest pressure have severely damaged the oyster reefs that protect our bays.
OYSTERS ARE THE FOUNDATION OF HEALTHY BAYS
3 quick facts:
- One oyster filters up to 50 gallons of water per day
- Oyster reefs protect shorelines from erosion
- They create habitat for fish, crabs, and shrimp
OVER HARVESTING AND STORMS LED TO MASSIVE LOSS IN MESQUITE BAY
The Mesquite Bay Complex was closed to oyster harvesting due to critical condition in 2022 by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission.
Following the closure, multiple conservation groups have identified priority areas for restoration, one of which is Ayres Point.
THE AYERS POINT RESTORATION PROJECT
The Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program is leading an effort to create 11 acres of oyster reef near Ayres Point - the project will prevent erosion and restore lost oyster habitat.
GET INVOLVED WITH US
